Taxi, Jeep, Scooter and Bicycle
Taxi
There is a 24-hour taxi service available in all hotels in Cayo Santa Maria and at the Iberostar Ensenachos and Cayo Las Brujas. It is important to book 24 hours in advance, especially if you want to go to the airport, located 90 minutes from the hotels.
Jeep rental
To get around Cayo Santa Maria, the surrounding islands and nearby villages and even from the airport to Cayo Santa Maria, it is possible to rent a car or a Jeep (manual transmission).
For rental, you must provide your driver's license and passport (a photocopy is sufficient). The rental price includes insurance. The vehicle is rented with full tank of gasoline. You must return it in this condition, or you will pay the difference. Please note that there is a gas station near the resorts (across from the local airport in Cayo Las Brujas).
Rent a Scooter
It is possible to be two persons on the same scooter, but it is better to be alone, because sometimes the seats are small and scooters are not very powerful. For rental, you must have your passport (a photocopy is sufficient). Pay attention to the sandy roads, because sometimes there are potholes. Wearing a helmet is now mandatory in Cuba.
Please, do not drive your vehicle if you are drunk, not even a scooter! The roads in Cayo Santa Maria are not lit and can be slippery and sometimes with holes. It is important to know that if you injure a Cuban while intoxicated, you will have to pay the costs of hospitalization of the injured person.
Bicycle rental
You may rent a bike at the hotel Iberostar Ensenachos, but it is often the case in the South. They are not in perfect condition. For the customers at the hotels in Cayo Santa Maria, please note that the bicycles are now located in Pueblo Las Dunas and La Estrella (there are no more bikes in the hotels). Hour rentals are from 9 am @ 3 pm. Bicycles are no longer part of the all-inclusive package! The rate is 3 CUC for three hours or 5 CUC for the day. For a stroll in the neighborhood or on the causeway, but not the sandy roads.
Shuttle
Now there is a shuttle bus to go between the hotel Villa Las Brujas, the Dolphinarium, the Iberostar Ensenachos, all hotels in Cayo Santa Maria and the two Pueblos. This is a « open top » two-storey bus.
The rate is 1 CUC per person per trip (not for the day line in Varadero or Cayo Coco). If you plan to visit Cayo Santa Maria, we strongly recommend that you take the shuttle. When the weather permits, opt for the second floor. It is nice to travel around, and you will have the opportunity to see the location of the other hotels and attractions.
There are two buses doing the scenic round trip from morning to evening (even at night for the party in disco located in the Pueblo). If you ever do not want to wait for the bus, you may always opt for a taxi. They often travel to all the hotels, and the cost is 3 @ 4 CUC taxi / per segment (for the customers of the hotels in Cayo Santa Maria. It is more expensive for Cayo Ensenachos).

Since June 1st, 2011, the hotel is no longer administered by Occidental hoteles but rather by Iberostar. The name is now IBEROSTAR ENSENACHOS. A family-oriented resort.
