Cubacar Havanautos Rex Transgaviota | Cayos de Villa Clara, Cuba

The Hop-On/Hop-Off Panoramic Bus Tour

These open-top double decker buses are a fun, convenient and economical way to stroll around Cayo Santa Maria and the surronding cayos (Ensenachos and Las Brujas). Note however that these buses do not cross the Pedraplen (causeway) to travel to nearby cities on the main island of Cuba. Its circular route includes a stop at every hotel (within the 3 cayos), the Plazas (commercial centers, alias plueblos), and the Delfinario (dolphinarium). The schedule is usually displayed in the lobby of each hotel, or ask the front desk.

A one-day ticket costs $5 USD per person, payable upon boarding by credit card.

Taxis

You can usually find them in front of each hotel and at the entrance of the Plazas (commercial centers). Considering the limited number of taxis you may sometimes have to wait a long time to get one. We suggest asking your hotel reception to call one for you. For a transfer to the Santa Clara Airport (~90 minutes), it's strongly suggested to reserve at least 24 to 48 hours in advance. The taxis can be a modern car, or a vintage American Classic from the 1950’s (called Maquina or Yank Tank).

Typical fares (subject to change and depending on vehicle size):
• From Cayo Santa Maria to Caibarien : 35-40 USD one-way / 65-75 USD round-trip
• From Cayo Santa Maria to Remedios: 40-45 USD one-way / 80-90 USD round-trip
• From Cayo Santa Maria to Santa Clara: 60-70 USD one-way /  120-140 USD round-trip
