Cayo Las Brujas

Cayo Las Brujas is located west of Cayo Ensenachos and Cayo Santa Maria. This is the first cayo inhabited after the kilometers of a causeway that connects the village of Caibarien to Cayo Santa Maria.

In Cayo Las Brujas (witches in Spanish), there is a small local airport for domestic flights, a gas station, a marina, a hotel, restaurant and bar and a long beach on a calm sea. In May 2009, we rented a scooter from Cayo Santa Maria to Playa Salina (the beach of Cayo Las Brujas). In moving away from the hotel sector, it is possible to take a sun bath « Au Naturel ». There are no services. Therefore, bring your sunscreen, food and plenty of water.

You may visit Cayo Las Brujas, from hotels of nearby islands by scooter, bicycle or taxi (about 15 kms from Barcelo Cayo Santa Maria). You reach the hotel section and the marina through the main entrance or by the road west of the airport (opposite to the gas station). There is a sandy road (no sign) to the east of the airport. Click HERE to see a sketch of the road to get there.

Please note that the hotel is guarded, and you cannot move freely. There is also a guard for the marina, but there is no problem to visit or take a drink at the bar at the marina.

For deep-sea fishing (spear or fly) lovers, the Planet Fly Fishing Club offers packages for the hotels Las Brujas and Melia Cayo Santa Maria, including transfer and fishing.
